ABOUT DYLAN FIXMER:
Dylan Fixmer was born near Madison, Wisconsin in 1987. His musical connections originated with his father’s voice and guitar filling the milieu with song and lulling him to sleep each night.
Fixmer’s proficiencies on brass and string instruments developed throughout his life and were informed by numerous diverse styles. Playing in genres from classical to punk, jazz to marching band music and Broadway to rock, blues, and folk, Fixmer’s composing echos his eclectic musical tastes and experiences. Fixmer graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he received a BA in Music Education. His memorable compositions for trumpet, violin and piano have been performed at recitals, weddings and concerts across the country. By day, Fixmer teaches music to 400 plus elementary students in Rifle, CO, and by night, he plays mandolin and sings with an Americana-folk band, “Dandelions for Donda”. If there is any time left over, Fixmer may be eating, sleeping or roaming the Rocky Mountains.
The first two movements of his "High School Suite", featured here, are performed by "The Fixmer Quartet". They were undergraduate players from the University of Colorado in 2008-2009.
