ABOUT GALEN CURRY
Galen Curry makes the kind of music that haunts your dreams, loops through your head as you shower, and pops into your thoughts at the most inappropriate times (not to exclude the appropriate ones). Raised in rural Potsdam NY, Galen started making music at the age of 6. At every opportunity he made music, in the auditoriums and on the streets.
At the age of 15 he and two friends formed The Beds, his first foray into the world of rock and roll. As Galen cultivated his skills and musical taste he began writing original material for the band, and, as The Beds toured the northeast, and he began to find his voice as a songwriter. www.myspace.com/the4beds. In 2004 he headed off to The College of William and Mary to continue his studies. Throughout his college career Galen fronted, among other groups, the funk-rock ensemble Ultraviolet Ballet. After Galen graduated with a B.A. in Music, in the spring of 2008 Ultraviolet Ballet stormed the Charlottesville music scene: opening for Girl Talk, inaugurating the spring season for the Friday’s After Five Music Festival, and consistently bringing purple tears to the eyes of the countless fans who swarmed shows to groove to the power trio's distinctive sound. Ultraviolet Ballet, is, alas, history, but their music lives on, appropriately, in cyberspace (www.myspace.com/ultravioletballet). Galen's first full length EP of original tunes has now been released in June, 2010. Galen describes his own recordings as “an attempt at beauty through the use of massively overused chord progressions”. Canned or live, you won't think of his music as merely an attempt."
