Steph Davies

I used to get mad at the wind when I was four years old, living in Missouri, for blowing the pages of my coloring book when I was trying to color. Now, as an artist living in Milwaukee and a little more of a grown up, I embrace it and what it offers. I am drawn to the images of birds for many reasons, the simplest being that freedom of flight. I like the idea of capturing something in detail that you often just catch a glimpse of. I studied illustration, printmaking and book making at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I learned that art didn't have to be a painting. I was lucky enough to spend one day a week huddled over a sketchbook in the basement of the field museum. That's where I first met, and fell for flight .
