This month our theme is "heart", and we have three selections that really dive deep to pull out that passion inside all of us.

First, we have Big Terrible channeling the best aspects of the Seattle sound of the early 90's. "Face the Stone" really draws you in with its power and restraint, and depth of its soundscape.

Next is A Conscious Divide, with their song "Burning Bridges."  This is an excellent combination of metal and rock, which many bands have a hard time doing. Full of energy and punchy guitars, this tune wakes up any lost parts of your heart that have been dormant.

Finally we have Kinetic Element, who are truly reviving the prog rock era with there own interpretations. With awesome riffs, thumping keys and guitar they are sure to inspire all who listen. Their musical travels rival that of some of the best the Brits have to offer, and we feature their song "See the Children" in this month's music.

Check out the links to all three of these outstanding bands, and show some love for the tremendous amount of heart it takes to do what they do!

ABOUT BIG TERRIBLE

BIG TERRIBLE

"Deep inside hell there is a war zone. Beyond the war zone there is a hell zone. Inside this hell zone one will be forced to confront the hell war inside themselves. Unfortunately for those that make it this far, they will soon be met with an awful war machine.
Just before their soul's explode from straight-up terror they will realize that this is the Big Terrible"

Out of Philly, BIG TERRIBLE features Jon Dumoff (Vox, Bass) Dan Lynam (Guitar) Tim Lynam (Drums).  Find reviews, videos and more about them on their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/bigterrible).

ABOUT A CONSCIOUS DIVIDE

A Conscious Divide

Composed of 3 from the Twin Cities, out to set a new genre of metal and harmony. Vocalist Derek Qualle adds the balance between heavy screaming with smooth, powerful singing. Lance Loverink, on an 8 string guitar, powers through quick licks, adding slower, melodic interludes to pull heavy and soft together for a well rounded and an unexpected song structure. On drums is Justin Steinke, bringing singer and raw guitar together in a hard core, body moving beat. They are dedicated to expanding their sound and providing a great live experience for their fans.

Kinectic Element

SEE THE CHILDREN

Kinetic Element is a neo symphonic progressive rock band from Richmond, Virginia that harbors musical roots in classic artists like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Yes, Asia and Genesis and blends those influences with philosophical and spiritually powerful and uplifting lyrics. The band is comprised of Mike Visaggio (keyboards and lead vocals); Michael Murray (drums and backing vocals), and Todd Russell (electric and acoustic guitar). They recently completed their full-length recording Powered by Light at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, Virginia and it was released in September 2009. In May 2008 KE was privileged to be a support act for Circa (featuring Tony Kaye and Alan White of Yes, at Jaxx in northern Virginia), Rare Blend (at Orion Studios in Baltimore, Maryland one of prog’s must-play venues), IZZ (who have played every prog festival in America, at the Artomatic festival in Washington, D.C.) and in 2009, Morglbl (at Capitol Ale House Music Hall in Richmond VA). Kinetic Element opened the nation’s longest running prog rock festival, Prog Day, at the Pre-Show on August 29, 2008. Besides promoting Powered by Light the band is actively writing new material and doing pre-production. (And searching for a full time member to play bass!) Powered by Light was nominated by www.Progawards.it in the category Best Debut CD of 2009. They will be opening the ProgDay Preshow again this year on Sept. 3, 2010.
