LeRoy Lottmann was raised in central Missouri where he kept himself busy by drawing and reading. His work mainly focuses on formal aesthetic concerns. Whether working objectively or non-objectively he is most interested in controlling the visual relationships between shapes while directing light and shadow through various marks, textures, and colors. The goal is always to create an interesting image. If a context exists for the piece, it is layered on top of the compositional structure.
He now lives with his wife and dogs in St. Louis, Missouri, where he continues to draw and read. Find more of his work at: http://leroylottmann.com
LeRoy's art appears in the NATURE issue of Status Hat (May, 2011).
