The theme this month is WORK, and the amount of effort taken to create and record music is greatly acknowledged here at Status Hat. We try to showcase diverse and interesting selections, each having been born of just an idea, now it is an audio enhancement to the world. Thanks!

First we have the haunting song "It's All For Nothing" by Faulke You.  This song really reaches to the bottom of your gut, and seems to pull out a David Lynch film. We think it is simplicity and conviction at it's best.

Second up is a rocking song from Burning Down Broadway, an excellent band from Cleveland. I would put their music up against any modern rock group, and they more than hold their own. Very tight and energetic, "Can't Keep the Faith" nails home the idea that our sometimes difficult world can get the better of us.

Lastly we have a very beautiful song from Tumbleweed Company, called "Eye to Eye". Relationships can be a lot of work and Tumbleweed Company lushly reminds us that, sadly, sometimes it does not turn out as intended.

FAULKE YUE

IT'S ALL FOR NOTHING

ABOUT FAULKE YUE

I'm a solo acoustic singer/songwriter from Salem MA.

Started singing and playing solo in 2006. I had promised a host of an open mic I would pay there, and had to cancell many times because the singer who would have performed with me would cancel...after the 4th try, I decided to take a song I had with two verses. I had never sang because I hated my voice, so I lowered my guitar tuning to find a compatible range for my vocal ability, and I went to perform at the open mic. After I was done performing, I got a thunderous response, and many people loved the lyrics and the vocals. With that encouragement, I proceeded to write and perform more and more.

I was always fascinated by the emotional journey that a tune would take someone on. My songs are written from what my heart and soul see around me.. its sad that there is so much happening, and nothing much I could do about it -- so I try to reach listeners with what I feel. I love playing outside, and in the summer I perform alot down on Newbury and Dartmouth streets in Boston.  Other than that I play a lot of open mics.

BURNING DOWN BROADWAY

CAN'T KEEP THE FAITH

ABOUT BURNING DOWN BROADWAY

There are no gimmicks when it comes to Burning Down Broadway's "Time Is Money." It's as honest of an attempt as it gets. The title of the band's third release since 2007 is a true testament to where they are at today. Brothers, Dylan and Max Hayden, Jeff Bazzo, and Kevin McManus make up the current lineup, which has been active since May 2007. The Cleveland based quartet has worked on a struggling music scene since they were kids and their passion has taken them to stages throughout the Midwest before enthusiastic crowds-- or no crowd at all. This July BDB will be celebrating their 8th anniversary as a band with the release of the eight-song-record "Time Is Money" at The Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights on July 23. Burning Down Broadway continues to earn their respect in Cleveland and beyond with each passing year. Their high-energy performances and their straightforward rock music tells it all.
