First Edition - Issue date July 1, 2011:
"Beware the wandering eye of the artist, the roving ear of the writer..."
Our inaugural issue features a collaborative project. We invited 16 artists and writers to create a new work of writing or art in response to a piece by one of the other participants.
The project resulted in a showcase of 32 works of visual art, short stories and poetry, across a spectrum of styles. Also included in this edition are statements by each of the contributors about their approach to creating the new piece, providing a rich window into the creative process at work.
Second Edition - Issue date in February, 2012
In our second edition of Trigger we tackle two "extremes" of subject matter in writing and art: "big" subjects that construct narratives around life-changing or inherently dramatic moments and "small" subjects which focus on commonplace or everyday occurances as a way of hinting at something more universal. We wanted to showcase the life-altering and the mundane to explore the range of ways that works of fiction, poetry, and art can use either extreme to create unique and meaningful narratives. Not so surprisingly, the works we feature in this edition could often be placed in either category, big or small. In the end, we found teh collection speaks strongly for itself, and demonstrates once again, "art is art is art." We hope you enjoy the exploration!
